Mike is a family physician at Waco Family Medicine. As Chief Clinical Officer, he leads the organization’s clinical and population health strategies across medical, dental, and behavioral health services. He’s also president of the WFM Institute, which hosts the Family Medicine residency program—ranked in the top 2% of training programs nationwide.
After eight years in private practice, Mike, Karol, and their children (then ages 4, 2, and 10 months) moved to the Ecuadorian rainforest to serve at a mission hospital. Those four years left an indelible, positive mark on their family. Upon returning to the U.S., Mike joined the faculty at Waco Family Medicine, and Karol resumed her faculty position at Baylor. He considers it his highest privilege to serve people who are often overlooked or underserved.
Mike turned 60 this year and still has a few bucket list items left. Dancing “professionally” is one of them. A trip to outer space is second. Karol prefers the first...
Mike’s work often overlaps with the mission of the Family Abuse Center, as he regularly counsels expectant mothers about the increased risk of domestic violence during pregnancy and the resources available through FAC. He’s excited to raise support for this mission—and to finally knock dancing off the bucket list (outer space can wait).
