Dear Friends:

I trust this message finds you well and staying cool in this warm weather.  I wanted to share with you a cause that I’ve come to believe in – one that highlights compassion, resilience, and hope. 

You might remember the media stories from March about how, for the first time, the names of men involved in a major prostitution sting were publicly released.  [Boston 25 News: Names of accused men accused of paying for sex at high end brothel released]. RIA, Inc., is part of that coalition supporting efforts like this – but their work goes much further. 

Who is RIA?    They are a women-led survivor-informed organization dedicated to providing vital support to those who have been caught in the commercial sex trade and related exploitation.  Their mission statement is simple but powerful: 

“To create a world where people’s bodies are not victimized, 

exploited, bought, or sold for the gratification of another.”

While most of us have not experienced this firsthand, I believe many of us have faced challenges or moments of vulnerability.  For the women (and yes, sometimes men) working to escape this harsh reality, RIA offers a lifeline – through counseling, peer support and short-term housing.

2024 Annual Report

RIA, like all women-supportive non-profits, is committed to safeguarding their clients despite the current funding restrictions and vetoes by federal and state governments.  As a 2025 RIA Ambassador I am seeking to raise $10,000.  Any level of gifting is much appreciated, and I will personally match the first $2,500 raised from this group.

I am hosting an event on the evening of Thursday, September 11, 2025 to learn more about RIA.  It will also be an occasion to reconnect over cocktails and bites.  I will share more details about the time and location once I know how many can come.

Lastly, I didn't know that RIA existed until three years ago.  Since promoting awareness and building community is essential to RIA’s continued success, I would genuinely appreciate your sharing this letter (and invitation!) with your friends and networks.
