According to research, the <strong>2019 CDC report, indicate girls mature, in terms of their emotional recognition, faster than boys, illustrating a difference in genders in favor of girls at 15.9% vs. 7.7% for boys</strong>. That sensitivity could make girls more vulnerable to anxiety and depression. Hartford, like other communities of color throughout the world are in dire straits as a direct result of this pandemic. Being one of Connecticut’s, three poorest cities,<strong> COVID-19 has revealed and widened that inequity gap in systems in Hartford</strong>. These inequity gaps have created constraints which have compounded service barriers within the Economic, Health and Educational systems. </span></span></span></span></span></span><br /> <br /> <span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="line-height:normal"><span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif"><span style="font-size:13.5pt"><span style="font-family:"Open Sans",sans-serif"><span style="color:#595959">Over the past five years the DreamBig program has served over 800 girls globally. With the launch of the Girl Power Movement, we looking to increase these numbers by partnering with more schools and organizations to engage 300 girls within the coming year. Girls will engage in either the I Am Girls' project (school-base) and/or Girl Power Circle (girl support group) which are all based on our Courage to Soar Framework. This Framework is designed to create safe spaces for teen girls to discover their voices and become Change Makers.
