Learn about the differences between jellies and jellyfish while exploring their habitat

Have you ever wondered about what makes a jellyfish a jellyfish? Participants in this program get closer to the Bays than ever before as they explore the shallow waters of the Indian River Bay for aquatic life and handle living organisms! This program will focus on jellies and jellyfish and how these animals compare to each other. As a group, we identify and discuss different jellies, fish, crabs, and other plants and animals that we can find here at the James Farm Ecological Preserve!

Perfect for participants of all ages! Kid’s days allow children of all ages to connect with nature and explore by utilizing hands-on learning!

Participants will be in and around the water, so please wear clothes & shoes that can get wet and/or sandy. Closed-toe shoes are encouraged. Please remember to bring water, sunscreen and insect repellant, if desired since the Preserve can be buggy.

We'll be walking about 0.5 miles to the beach and spending the majority of the program at the beach wading in the water.

Important Notes:

Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.

This program is weather permitting.

Attendance is free, but registration is encouraged. We reserve the right to turn away walk-ups if necessary.

For the privacy and comfort of our participants, staff, and volunteers, video or audio recording is not permitted during our programs. Guests are welcome to take photographs, but we ask that you do so in a way that respects the privacy of others. Thank you for helping us keep our programs safe and welcoming for everyone.

Support the Delaware Center for the Inland Bays:

As you may know, recent federal changes may impact our funding, which currently accounts for nearly 60% of our budget. While challenges lie ahead, our commitment to preserving and restoring the Inland Bays remains strong. Your support is more important than ever. If you’re able, please consider making a donation to help us continue this vital work. Every gift, no matter the size, makes a difference (click HERE to donate).
