Happy National Senior Citizen Day!
Designated by President Reagan in 1988, this day recognizes and shows appreciation for the value and contributions of elderly people to the family and society as a whole. Reagan, in his proclamation, said, "For all they have achieved throughout life and for all they continue to accomplish, we owe our thanks and a heartfelt salute." National Senior Citizen Day encourages supporting senior citizens to live their lives to the fullest and as independently as possible.
The Drive a Senior ATX mission encompasses this proclamation every day by enabling older adults to live independently, avoid social isolation, and age in place by providing free, volunteer-based transportation and other support services.
Having access to reliable transportation for medical appointments, grocery shopping, and other needs, is just one of the ways our senior friends experience a sense of independence. But it's not about getting them from point A to point B, it's about providing opportunites to make meaningful connections with other adults during group trips to the grocery store, field trips, etc. Research shows that social isolation and loneliness have a serious impact on older people's longevity, their physical and mental health, and their qualify of life.
Many of our clients have told us that connecting with others in person is a great source of joy for them. At Drive a Senior ATX, we want to create those opportunities for our clients to experience joy - something we all need in order to live our best lives.
Join us on this very special day by making a gift in honor of a senior in your life!
Gratefully,
Your friends at DASATX
