Help provide additional materials needed to implement enhanced safety measures for our children.
As we prepare to reopen our school with enhanced safety protocols, a number of changes are being made to the configuration of the school and the structure of the classes to minimize risk to our students. The elementary students have been regrouped into 1st-2nd grade and 3rd-5th grade groups to balance the sizes of the classes. The lower elementary will occupy the entire first floor of the front building to allow extra space needed for social distancing while the upper elementary will continue to meet in the second floor. Materials will be cleaned daily and cannot be shared throughout the day. To accommodate these changes, we need to add a number of materials to enable our children to have access to all the materials that are so critical to their Montessori learning experience.
The additional materials will be funded through a combination of school funding, PTO funding and donations. In the past we have often received questions about how much we have fundraised and what we are spending our money on. Our traditional activities and fundraisers are going to be severely limited this year so we are giving you an opportunity to make a donation and know exactly how your money is being spent. You can see all the materials that are needed, the cost of each one and how much has been donated to date.
You can make donations online using a credit card or ACH, or you can mail a check (PO Box 651; Danville, KY 40423). Danville Montessori is a non-profit school so donations are tax-deductible and eligible for most company matching programs.
The units, ten bars, hundred squares, and thousand cubes can be used to demonstrate place value, numeral composition, or mathematical equations of thousand numbers.
The Checker Board provides practice with short and long multiplication.
The Decimal Fraction Exercise allows the child to experience the decimal system visually, and work different decimal operations.
Children in Montessori Elementary classrooms will love doing short and long multiplication of whole numbers (up to 100,000,000) on this handsome, quilted mat. Unlike hard surface checkerboards, the beads won’t roll around, a definite advantage!
The Long Division Material provides a more abstract understanding of short and long divisions with dividends up to the millions.
