Tanika is the product of parents who both served in the United States Marine Corps. During Tanika's time as a “military brat”, she was able to experience the world, living in a variety of places including Okinawa, Japan. She moved to Kansas City in 1993, and this has been her “home” ever since. After graduating from high school, she attended the University of Missouri-Columbia, where she received her Bachelor’s degree. She then followed by receiving her Master’s from Devry University’s Keller Graduate School of Management.
Tanika began her career at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City (BlueKC) as an INROADS Intern in 1998. 24 years later, she is still employed and has performed in a variety of roles within the company. She is currently an IT Manager. In 2017, BlueKC began its sponsorship of Cristo Rey students. Since then, they have sponsored a total of 14 high schoolers. Tanika is pleased that her role in the organization has enabled her to meet many of our CRKC students and help them grow in the Work Study program.
Tanika is the proud mother of 17 year old. Her son is currently a senior at Rockhurst High School and he has been in a national commercial for Shelter Insurance (“My Mom’s a Superhero”). She is also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Tanika is excited to show her moves in Dancing with the Stars Kansas City!
