Join us for Cancer Support Community Massachusetts’ 3rd Annual Stories of Strength and Resilience: Honoring the Legacy of Dr. Harriet Berman. This special evening will include storytelling from the vantage point of patients, caregivers, and bereaved. You will leave feeling inspired and hopeful from the strength that is shared in the face of tough challenges.
During the event, we will honor the legacy of Dr. Harriet Berman—one of our founding leaders who championed the cause of social and emotional support for the cancer community locally. This event will bring together CSC MA group participants, storytellers and local community members.
Stories of Strength and Resilience is a celebration of hope and a gathering in support of Cancer Support Community Massachusetts and the individuals and families we serve. Each week, CSC MA provides vital social and emotional support, educational resources, patient navigation, financial counseling, and more — all at no cost to those navigating cancer.
Doors open at 6 PM for happy hour and appetizers, and the storytelling event begins at 7 PM.
Directions: You can reach the auditorium by entering the Food Pantry side door, or the main City Hall entrance and walking down the long hallway. Look for signage and hosts at both locations who will direct you to the auditorium on the second floor. There is both stair and elevator access.
Help us make a difference in the lives of those impacted by cancer.
Dr. Harriet Berman
Harriet Kasloff Berman, Ph.D. (1948 - 2012), was a licensed clinical psychologist. She dedicated much of her career to providing psychological care and support to cancer patients and their families, a passion to which she brought the perspective of her own experiences as a cancer patient. She was the Program Director of the Wellness Community of Greater Boston, and later co-founded, alongside other Wellness Community staff, Facing Cancer Together: A Community of Hope (FCT). When FCT had to close their doors after the pandemic, the organization contributed their remaining operating funds to the Cancer Support Community of Massachusetts to continue the critical mission of fostering community and hope for cancer patients and their loved ones. Harriet was a child psychologist early in her career, and later, a professor at the graduate clinical psychology Psy.D. program at William James College. She was a loving mother, a talented artist and writer, and a respected and beloved teacher, psychotherapist and leader.
