Sometimes, a hero is a local business that makes sure a child

has food for the weekend. For a child who relies on school meals, Friday can bring a difficult question: what will I eat before

Monday? Backpack Friends now serves Austin ISD, Pflugerville ISD and Round Rock ISD, helping close that gap with nutritious, kid-friendly food delivered discreetly through local schools.

The organization began in 2014 with just 12 children at one campus. Today, its website reports more than 200,000 weekend food kits delivered. Behind each bag is a simple promise: a child in our community is seen, supported and cared for.

$20 can provide a child with weekend food for a month.

Event sponsorships help cover live music, a DJ, experiential entertainment and kids’ crafts. Production costs will be kept as low as possible, and all remaining sponsorship funds will go directly to Backpack Friends.

Raffle prizes and attendee donations are the event’s primary fundraising effort. All raffle proceeds go to Backpack Friends. Your donated item gives guests another reason to participate and helps turn community generosity into weekend meals.

Donation acknowledgments: Backpack Friends will provide receipts for cash and donated items. Noncash receipts describe the items; donors determine their value. Tax deductibility depends on applicable rules and any benefits received.
