Dear Art Lover!
The mission of Art From The Streets is to provide a safe and encouraging environment where the positive spirit of homeless and at-risk people is nurtured through artistic expression, offering them a pathway to self-determination as a source of pride, achievement, social connection, and income through the creation and sale of their work.
As we are all navigating through these uncertain times, AFTS has made it their mission to connect and communicate with the artists and our volunteers. We find each one is uplifted, encouraged and hopeful. We miss them each one and wish the best for them during this time.
As you know many things have changed in our world, we have closed Open Studio until 2021 and have had only one art show since December last year. However, we are working diligently to adjust to the new obstacles. We have launched a new program called "Through My Eye's Art Kit" which includes art supplies, instruction and inspiration. We have mailed/delivered over 350 kits to persons who are homeless or at risk in the Austin community. Each artist has enjoyed the supplies and the creation opportunity. We look forward to continue this program in 2021 and are hopeful to continue our Open Studio.
You will find work created this year during these unprecedented times as well as work from the past to give a good representation of support for each artist. Enjoy browsing the work. Its FABULOUS! Please invite your friends, colleagues and family to purchase artwork and support these amazing artists in our program. Be reminded 95% of all sales goes directly to the artists.
