Aging isn't something that happens to "other people." If we're fortunate, it happens to all of us. And almost every one of us will one day care for someone we love, or rely on someone to care for us.
Serving as Chair of the 2026 She Thrives events for AGE of Central Texas has given me a front-row seat to the incredible work this organization does every day. I've seen the hope they provide to older adults, the guidance they offer families navigating the challenges of caregiving, and the community they create for people who simply need to know they aren't alone. Their mission reminds us that aging is not just about adding years to life, but about adding dignity, connection, and support throughout life's later seasons.
As I celebrate my 47th birthday, I have one simple birthday wish: I'm hoping 100 people will join me by making a gift of $47 to support AGE of Central Texas. While $47 is a fun way to celebrate this milestone, the real gift is helping ensure older adults and family caregivers throughout Central Texas have access to the resources, education, and compassionate support they deserve. And if $47 isn't the right amount for you, every gift - no matter the size - makes a meaningful difference.
One day, every one of us will either need a caregiver or become one. If someone has ever cared for you, a parent, grandparent, spouse, friend, neighbor, teacher, or mentor, this is a beautiful way to honor them.
Thank you for celebrating my birthday by investing in something that will continue to bless others long after the candles have been blown out. I truly can't think of a better gift.
