Thrive Youth Center's mission is to provide a safe, effective, and supportive center for homeless LGBTQ+ youth in San Antonio and Bexar County, Texas, so they may become productive, skilled, educated, and successful adults with the ability, opportunity, and possibility of achieving their dreams.

Thrive creates these opportunites through our Emergency Shelter and Rapid Rehousing programs, in addition to Street Outreach.

Funds raised through this auction will be used to meet immediate needs of Thrive youth that may not be covered by other program funds. For example, many of the apartment youth and shelter residents are pursuing gender-affirming care such as HRT and name/gender marker change, and many Thrive youth are finishing their GED or enolling in college courses. During the COVID19 pandemic, Thrive young adults need to manage medical appointments, school, and even work online, while resources such as community centers, libraries, and school work areas are not as available as before. For these reasons, some resources are now especially important, such as wifi and cell phone access, to meet even basic needs, as well as giving a means to communicate with their Thrive Case Managers. Additionally, youth need support funding HRT costs, legal fees for gender-affirming documentation, laptop and hotspot support, and other educational expenses. Your contribution to this fundraiser could help see a young trans person experiencing homelessness finally get their name and gender on paper, or a student able to get the degrees they're working so hard for despite a pandemic and housing insecurity.
