🎪World Circus Day!🌎

Celebrate World Circus Day with Circus Up!

Every third Saturday of April is World Circus Day, and what better day to show your support for Circus Up? World Circus Day was established in 2010 by Princess Stéphanie of Monaco as a way to promote the circus arts and raise awareness for how it is our shared cultural heritage. Many different versions of the circus exist across the globe, and the creation of all disciplines can be traced one way or another to all continents as far back as 200 B.C. Unfortunately, a lot of circus history includes the mistreatment of people and animals, as well as the erasure of many different cultural influences. But it also involves the perseverance, creativity, and shear strength of those who were and are considered "outsiders" by the mainstream culture.

That is where Circus Up is proud to make our contribution to the global circus story! At Circus Up we believe that the circus arts belong to and should be accessible to EVERYONE, and that through the circus arts we are able to come together and create a stronger sense of community, increase our capacity for both failure and success, and learn how to better respect and care for ourselves and those around us. If you've read this far (and even if you haven't 😉) you should also be proud to consider yourself a part of the global circus story, and you can show your support for the continuation of circus as a means of creating more resilient, joyful communities in so many ways. Consider making a donation to Circus Up to support our programming, follow and share our social media pages, ask to volunteer your time, or come see a show!
