Silent Auction FAQs

 

How will the auction be conducted?

The auction will be conducted through BetterUnite.

 

When will the auction take place?

It will take place online only, via BetterUnite, during the following days/times:

  • Bidding starts Thursday, August 1st, 2024 at 7:00 AM AKST
  • Bidding closes Saturday, August 3rd, 2024 at 3:00 PM AKST

 

How will I pay for my item(s)?

  • You will enter your credit card in a secure window when you sign up as a bidder for the auction.
  • Will people who are not attending the conference be able to bid on items?
  • Yes! You’re encouraged to share the web link with friends and it will also be shared on AkLA & PNLA’s social media.

 

I won an item, now what?

Congratulations on your winning bid and thank you for your generous donation! One of the Silent Auction Chairs will be in contact with you to coordinate delivery of your item. In the meantime, please feel free to reach out to Shawn with any questions you may have.  If you are physically in Juneau Saturday evening, but leaving late that night or the following days, contact Shawn as soon as the auction closes and we'll do our best to get your item/s to you Saturday night or Sunday.  That is only if you want to take the item home with you when you fly or drive out:)  If you prefer to pay for shipping then we'll send your items out with the others.  

 

How do I get my item? Does it cost anything?

Pick Up in Juneau: Free!

Delivery in western Washington and northwest Oregon (Portland/Salem) may be possible so CONTACT Shawn when the auction closes.

If you live in Juneau or along the I-5 corridor in western Washington you may have pickup/delivery options for your item/s in August.

 

Shipping: Cost varies

If you would like your item to be shipped to you, we do require you to pay for shipping. It varies per item and will be shipped via USPS. If you would like an estimate, use the USPS Domestic Shipping Calculation Tool. Shipping costs will be calculated after the auction is closed, and please note the Calculation Tool is an estimate, not a guaranteed price.

 

Are there any fees?

BetterUnite applies a fee* to each transaction that helps pay for their service. If you are able to pay those fees at checkout, more of your contribution will go toward serving Northwest Library communities. Please consider helping with this option.

 

*All online payment transactions via Credit Card or ACH are subject to processing fees that are required by the credit card companies. These fees vary depending on the payment method (bank vs. VISA vs. AMEX, etc), and are typically 2.9% + $0.30 (for credit cards) and 1%+$0.10 (for ACH). There is an additional 2% platform fee per transaction.
