FREE Suicide Prevention & Mental Health Training Classes

All classes are free and held at Glencoe City Center. Trainings take place on Wednesday, June 17, with the exception of Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), which is a 16-hour, two-day training held June 16 & 17. Participants may register for multiple trainings as long as times do not overlap. Detailed class descriptions are available within each class ticket. 

 

Registration deadlines are June 10, 2026 at 12:00 PM for ASIST and June 15, 2026 for all other trainings.

 

TWO-DAY TRAINING (JUNE 16 & 17)

  • Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) – June 16 & June 17, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM (16-hour training)

 

MORNING TRAININGS (JUNE 17)

  • SafeTALK for Ag – 8:00–11:30 AM
  • Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) – 8:00 AM–2:00 PM
  • Adult Mental Health First Aid (AMHFA) – 8:00 AM–2:30 PM
  • 2B CONTINUED Volunteer Training – 8:30–9:30 AM

 

MIDDAY TRAININGS (JUNE 17)

  • Naloxone Training – 12:00–1:00 PM
  • Question, Persuade, Refer (QPR) – 12:00–2:00 PM

 

AFTERNOON TRAININGS (JUNE 17)

  • * Counseling on Access to Lethal Means (CALM) – 2:15–5:15 PM 
  • Naloxone Training – 2:30–3:30 PM
  • 2B CONTINUED Volunteer Training – 4:30–5:30 PM

Free Youth MHFA: 6/17, 8:00AM - 2:00PM

Youth Mental Health First Aid teaches how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorders in youth.

 

This 5.5 hour in person training gives adults who work and interact with youth the skills they need to reach out and provide initial support to children and adolescents (ages 12-18) who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem and help connect them to the appropriate care.

 

  • Date/Time: June 17, 8:00AM - 2:00PM
  • Target audience: Professionals, educators, parents and community members who work and interact with youth
  • Prerequisite: 2 hours of self-paced online prework must be completed prior to class
  • Cost: Free, includes light breakfast, lunch, snacks & beverages. 
  • Class size max: 30
  • CEU: 7.5 clock hours. Each attendee is responsible for determining if the activity meets their licensing requriements for acceptable continuing education.

  • What naloxone/Narcan is and how it works
  • How to properly administer naloxone to someone experiencing an overdose
  • About Steve's Law/MN's Good Samaritan and Naloxone Law

Free QPR: 6/17, 12:00PM-2:00PM

Just as people trained in CPR and the Heimlich Maneuver help save thousands of lives each year, people trained in QPR learn how to recognize the warning signs of a suicide crisis and how to question, persuade and refer someone to help. It is the most widely taught gatekeeper training in the United States that teaches best practices in suicide prevention.

 

You will learn about suicide warning signs, myths & facts, local statistics and resources.
